What does a wedding planner do that I can't do myself?

That is a good question that I get a lot.  I'll be honest.  If you have the time and willingness to "plan" your own wedding you probably can.  With my vendor relationships though, I could save you money on the same services that you contact and pay full price for.  I can also recommend vendors that I have worked with and know do a great job.  Some brides and grooms just don't have the time or the willingness to plan their wedding.  That is where I can come in to pick up more of that responsibility.

The biggest thing, and why I put "plan" in quotation marks, is that the wedding day is a whole different story.  Your wedding day is one of the most important and memorable times of your life.  Here's two real life scenarios.

Scenario One:  The day of the wedding the bride, bridesmaids, and mother-of-the-bride get up early.  They head to the reception room to decorate the tables, put centerpieces together, etc.  About lunch time, they order pizza as they continue to decorate.  They rush back to the hotel room with the pizza to only find that they need to be at their hair and make-up appointments.  While the bridesmaids eat, the bride and mother-of-the-bride run to get to the appointments in time... bridesmaids soon follow.  The bride is a sweaty mess when she gets there as they try to apply make-up.  Once everyone is done, they rush back to get ready for the wedding and barely have a moment to rest before the ceremony starts.  (This was my day and why I feel a planner is super important and ultimately why I became one)

Scenario Two:  The day of the wedding, the bride, bridesmaids, and mother-of-the-bride wake up and enjoy breakfast in the room brought by me (the planner).  The make-up and hair team arrive and the girls get pampered.  Lunch is brought to the hotel room by me (the planner).  In between everything, the girls are relaxing and just hanging out.  Once it is almost time for pictures, the bride and bridesmaids start getting dressed, pictures are taken, and everyone heads to the church for more pictures and the ceremony.  After the ceremony, the wedding party gets on a bus and heads around town celebrating and taking pictures.  Meanwhile, all of the reception decorations were being placed, favors going on the tables, and vendors were being coordinated.  The wedding party arrives and retreats to a room where they relax and have fun until the reception starts.  (This is a wedding I coordinated last year)

Now I ask you, which wedding day would you rather have?

Most wedding planners pay for themselves by negotiating contracts with vendors they have worked with.  They build relationships with top vendors to get you the best price and outstanding service.  They can even give you tips to save money that you have probably never thought of.  Again, this is one of the most important days of your life.  A wedding planner is WORTH IT.
